A top quality golf day for a golf mad city. That is exactly what is in store for Ballarat next February as co-organisers, SMS & Chip for Charity, bring the inaugural Ballarat Renault Chip for Charity Golf Day to Ballarat on February 20th 2015. After weeks of planning, the curtain was raised this week on what promises to be one of the best golfing experiences to hit Ballarat. Matt Vallance, founder of Chip for Charity, was at the launch of the event at the Ballarat Golf Club along with head of SMS, and fellow co-organiser, Bobby Mehta, to explain how the idea came about. "the main purpose of the event is to raise much needed funds for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute", explained Matt. "The institute had its beginnings in Ballarat and, at a time when almost everyone knows someone who has been affected by the devastating impact of cancer, both Bobby and I felt it would be a great idea to put on a fantastic event to support the excellent work of the Fiona Elsey team". The four man Ambrose event will be held at the prestigious Ballarat Golf Club and has generated much interest among the golf crazy community in Ballarat. Bobby Mehta explained how his background in fundraising and Matt's passion for golf were the perfect combination to bring the event to life, "It was the ideal mix really. I have known Matt long enough to appreciate his passion for the game, and with my experience in charity work spanning over ten years it just felt like a great opportunity to put on a fabulous event for Ballarat".

The pair have teamed up with local radio celebrity Paul "PT" Taylor and are looking forward to an entertaining, challenging and enjoyable day of golf and fundraising. "The support from local businesses has been huge", explained Matt. " We have had lots of interest from teams who wish to take part and we intend to put on a fantastic show for them".

Comedian Andrew Startin will bring many laughs to the pre-golf luncheon and with some excellent prizes on offer, including a $1,000 first prize and an $8,000 golf trip to Fiji, the day will certainly get the competitive juices flowing.

"We're just looking forward to a fun day of golf, food, drink and laughter...but the real winners will be Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute, and that is the best possible result" said Bobby.
