The Isowhey Ballarat Indian Film Festival is a key focus of SMS Community Inc, aiming to further enrich Ballarat’s annual calendar of events which make the city a great place to live and visit. The festival involves the screening of blockbuster Bollywood movies at the Regent Cinemas Ballarat every month from November 2016 to October 2017.

Indian cinema and music play a vital role in Indian society and provide a key point of connection for families of Indian origin who live outside of India.  There are an increasing number of Indian families who choose Ballarat as their home, who would welcome the opportunity to view their favourite movies at their local cinema instead of having to travel to Melbourne.

Renowned for its vibrancy and drama, the screening of these movies is also intended to attract broader members of the local community who have an interest in international cinema and in doing so will drive further cross-cultural awareness through an entertaining experience for all locals, whilst showcasing the wealth of Indian cinema.
